Last week I had two different people say to me that they have never heard the word “ableism” before. If this is you don’t feel bad, this is actually fairly common. I responded to explain that it was the name for discrimination and prejudice against disabled people. I don’t think anyone would deny that such discrimination exists and yet most people don’t know the word for it.
