David Scanlon, PhD
Associate ProfessorDavid Scanlon, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Special Education in the Lynch School of
Education at Boston College. Dr. Scanlon researches and teaches about learning disabilities
and other high incidence disabilities, with particular interests in adolescents and schooling.
His scholarship addresses content-area literacy, strategic teaching and learning, and higher
order thinking. He has also conducted research in young adult transition and in social skills
interventions for children with Asperger syndrome. Dr. Scanlon is editor of The
International Journal for Research in Learning Disabilities, and is a fellow of the Autism
Consortium and the International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities. He has
authored numerous research publications and two textbooks.
