Kristen Bottema-Beutel is an Assistant Professor in the Teacher Education, Special Education, and Curriculum & Instruction department in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. She received her Ph.D. in Special Education from UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University.

Kristen’s research interests are on social interaction in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She approaches this topic using multiple research methodologies and from a variety of theoretical perspectives. Her current research focuses on peer social interventions, communication development, social interaction dynamics in peer contexts, and the perspectives of youth with ASD.

She is currently teaching ED 373: Classroom Management, and ED: 675 Consultation and Collaboration in Special Education in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College.
